Police: Torso found in lake belonged to Toronto-area woman

(CNN) -- A torso found in a suitcase on Lake Ontario belonged to a woman whose body parts were found in other locations, Toronto police confirmed Thursday.
A post-mortem examination found the decomposed torso was that of Guang Hua Liu, 41, a Canadian citizen of Chinese descent who once owned a spa in Toronto.
Two boaters Wednesday found the suitcase floating on the lake, police said.
Body parts were found in mid-August in several places. The investigation began along the Credit River in Mississauga, west of Toronto.
Liu lived in Scarborough and was the single mother of three.
Peel Regional Police, near Toronto, last week said a 40-year-old man was arrested in Liu's death.
Wednesday's discovery of the suitcase came one week after a woman's torso was found in the Canadian portion of the Niagara River.
Niagara Regional Police said the unidentified white woman, likely in her mid-20s to early 40s, was a homicide victim. The torso was recovered near the Rainbow Bridge close to Niagara Falls.
Officers suspended the ground and water search for further evidence, the department said Thursday. It is asking the public for any information that could help identify the victim or aid the investigation.
The Niagara River case is not related to Liu's death, police have said.
