Bayern Munich made it three wins out of three in the Bundesliga on Saturday as they eased to a 3-1 win over Mainz at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern were two goals up within the first 15 minutes thanks to a second minute strike from Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic and a header from Bastian Schweinsteiger 11 minutes later.
Adam Szalai halved the deficit for Mainz with a 59th-minute penalty, but Germany midfielder Toni Kroos wrapped things up in injury time to keep Bayern at the top of the table with maximum points.
New signing, Javier Martinez also came on as a substitute for the last 15 minutes of the match to complete a satisfying day for Bayern, who were without the injured Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.
"We produced an excellent half hour of football, the goals were outstanding, but we were too passive in the 15 minutes before the break," Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes said.
"The 3-1 was well deserved, especially after Javi Martinez came on, we played well going forward and were very intelligent in our play," he added.
Defending champions Borussia Dortmund were also comfortable winners on Saturday beating Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 at Signal Iduna Park.
Mats Hummels headed the home side in front in the 29th minute before Poland captain Jakub Blaszczykowski doubled the lead 10 minutes later.
His international colleague Robert Lewandowski added a third 12 minutes from the end to lift Jurgen Klopp's men from sixth to fourth in the table.
"For the first time this season, we did everything on the pitch which we had planned to do," Klopp said.
Hanover move up to second on goal difference after battling to a 3-2 win over Werder Bremen.
Hungarian midfielder Szabolcs Huszti scored the winner in injury time which preceded a shirt-stripping celebration that earned him a second yellow card.
In other matches, Schalke moved up to third with a 2-0 win away to Greuther Furth, Nuremberg picked up three points with a 3-2 win at Moenchengladbach, while the match between Stuttgart and Fortuna Duesseldorf ended goalless.
