City had taken a 40th minute lead when Lescott powered home a header from close-range and looked set to move to within two points of league leaders Chelsea.

But Arsenal continued to look dangerous and after Joe Hart had produced a spectacular save to deny Santi Cazorla, Koscielny netted from the resulting corner.
City nearly stole the points late on when Vincent Kompany's overhead kick was saved by Vito Mannone and Sergio Aguero's follow-up drifted inches wide.
The result leaves City in seventh position, four points adrift of Chelsea with Arsenal a point ahead in fifth.
