5.6 earthquake strikes northeastern Taiwan

A 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck northeastern Taiwan on Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake hit at a depth of about 10 kilometers (6 miles), the USGS said.

Its epicenter was 36 kilometers north-northwest of the city of Hualian, according to the USGS.
