Pope Francis pauses for a moment to pray and lay his hands on a man with a disfiguring disease. His encounter with the ailing man occurred in Vatican City on Wednesday, November 6, at the end of the general audience, which had about 50,000 attendees.
(CNN) -- Pope Francis began his first full day as leader of the Catholic Church praying at the Basilica of Saint Mary Major in Rome, Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi said.
