Human traffickers in the Philippines prey on the nation’s poorest and most vulnerable people. They lure people from their homes with promises of jobs and money and the victim can end up working in Manila’s sex bars or overseas in places as far afield as Syrian and Japan.

The government is putting more money and people into tackling traffickers but problems in the system remain.
