At least 35 passengers were killed and 22 others were injured Wednesday when a bus plunged into a river in a mountainous area of northern India, police said.
Emergency crews were at the crash site in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh state, area police inspector Anil Kumar said. Police fear that river currents might have carried some passengers away from the site.
Kumar said the bus, which had left a tourist resort, was overcrowded. The cause of the crash will be investigated, he said.
