19 killed in roadside bombing in Afghanistan

Nineteen civilians -- including five children and 12 women -- were killed in a roadside bombing that struck a vehicle carrying them in western Afghanistan's Herat province on Tuesday, police said.

Seven other people were injured in the attack, which happened at about 6 p.m. in the Obeh district, said Abdul Hamid Hamidi, Herat province's deputy police chief.

The bomb struck a three-wheel mini truck that was carrying more than two dozen people, Hamidi said.
