Clashes with police follow new protests in Istanbul

Istanbul, Turkey (CNN) -- Turkish police and opposition protesters scuffled in Istanbul late Sunday after a peaceful rally against the killing of other demonstrators during a summer of unrest.
It was the third night of clashes in a week in the Istanbul neighborhood of Kadikoy.
Sunday's demonstration had been organized by some of the same groups that in May, June and July protested government plans to demolish the city's Gezi Park.
After the rally broke up, some of the thousands who attended built barricades, tried to light them on fire and hurled bottles at police. Police responded by beating demonstrators with batons, firing tear gas and detaining at least one accredited journalist.
The protesters are demanding justice from security forces accused of contributing to the deaths of six demonstrators in those turbulent weeks.
New protests began last week after an anti-government protester named Ahmet Atakan died during clashes in the southeastern border town of Hatay on Tuesday.
