Hundreds gathered in a park in Washington, D.C. Tuesday for a snowball fight when federal employees got the day off because of an overnight storm that rocked the mid-Atlantic region.
Federal staffers, college students, teachers and non-profit workers clad in snow gear and costumes—one man dressed as Captain America—clashed in a fog of white powder.
Area schools were closed and the federal Office of Personnel Management announced early Tuesday morning that non-emergency workers based in the Washington, D.C.-area would not be required to come to work.
The battle was organized by the Washington DC Snowball Fight Association, which uses social media to plan events.
