Dozens missing after landslide in northwest China

Hong Kong (CNN)Dozens of people are missing after a landslide came crashing down on the living quarters of mining workers in northwest China early Wednesday, state media reported.

The landslide struck around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, burying 15 dormitories and three houses of the Wuzhou mining company in Shanyang county, Shaanxi province, according to Chinese state-run news agency Xinhua.
Rescuers dug four people out of the huge mound of mud and rocks, the news agency said. The survivors were were taken to the hospital where they were reported to be in a stable condition.
    But the search is still on for the dozens who remain unaccounted for. Xinhua had initially reported that around 40 people were missing after the landslide.
    Neighboring residents have been moved out of the area, it said.
