Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said the use of Moroccans as opposed to Mexicans was intentional

He says it's a catuionary tale about what could happen in America

Washington CNN  —

Donald Trump’s inaugural television advertisement released on Monday reassures GOP primary voters that he will “stop illegal immigration by building a wall on our southern border that Mexico will pay for.”

That voice comes as viewers see more than a dozen people flowing toward some sort of crossing.

But the fact-checking organization Politifact, citing footage from May 2014 on an Italian television network, wrote Monday that those migrants weren’t crossing into Arizona or Texas – but into the Spanish enclave of Melilla on the African coast. The footage shows Moroccans fleeing, according to Politifact, not Mexicans.

Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said the use of Moroccans as opposed to Mexicans was intentional.

“No s— it’s in Morocco. The footage was intentional. It’s intended to demonstrate the impact of an open border,” he told CNN. “If we don’t do something to build a wall and stop illegal immigration, that’s what our country’s going to look like.”
