(CNN)Fans flocked to David Bowie's childhood neighborhood of Brixton in south London to pay tribute to the music legend in a touching mass sing-along.

The lyrics of Bowie's biggest hits reverberated through the streets, crowds singing in unison as an acoustic guitarist carried each tune.
    "There's a starman waiting in the sky / He'd like to come and meet us / But he thinks he'd blow our minds," they sang.
    Melodies of "Rebel Rebel" and "Space Oddity" had a similar effect, unifying fans as they sang.
