Israeli soldiers man a temporary checkpoint in the occupied West Bank on June 9, 2016. Israel said it had suspended entry permits for 83,000 Palestinians following a shooting in central Tel Aviv.

Four people were killed and nine others injured in the shooting, which took place at the Sarona Market near the Israeli Defense Ministry.

The attackers were dressed as Hasidic Jews, a law enforcement source briefed by Israeli officials said. Police officers shot one of the suspects. The other surrendered.

Islamist group Hamas has praised the attack, but did not claim responsibility for it.

The entry permit freeze for Palestinians will continue throughout the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
