Subject: Inaugural Donors List Released

As promised, the organizers of this year's inaugural has released a list of all those persons and groups which purchased tickets for any of the events under their auspices.

The Presidential Inaugural Committee is reporting a surplus of $4 million. Organizers say they have not made any decision where that money will be spent. However, they say it will not be kept for the next inaugural.

Due to the controversy over fund-raising this year, the committee instituted reforms including: no acceptance of corporate donation of goods and services; no acceptance of any contribution of more than $100; and the committee did not take out any loan.

Among those individuals who bought the most were long time Democratic activist Walter Shorenstein who purchased $61,528 worth of tickets.

Several of those who bought tickets are also Democratic Party contributors who had stayed in the Lincoln Bedroom: Ronald Burkle who bought $69,664; Angel Tsakopoulos who bought $29,028 worth; Alan Solmont who purchased $27,578 worth (Solomont is now the Democratic National Committee's Finance Director) Eli Broad who purchased $23,014.

Among those corporations and unions which purchased the most were: AFSCME (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees) which purchased $322,000 worth of tickets; American Federation of Teachers which purchased $116,000; Beacon Management purchased $148,600 worth; IBM which purchased $100,614 worth; AFL-CIO which purchased $99,914 worth; Time-Warner (parent of CNN) $56,828 worth and Mirage Resorts $50,000.

The committee reported a total of $23.7 million in total receipts for this year (the also had a $9.9 million surplus from the 1993 inaugural) with the bulk of the money - $19.3 million coming from ticket sales.
