Subject: Senate Committee issues more subpoenas

Late Wednesday, the Senate Government Affairs Committee investigating the campaign finance controversy announced that it is issuing fourteen more subpoenas.

The requests are for bank records of individuals and entities whose contributions to the Democratic National Committee were returned or have had questions raised concerning the source of the funds.

Both the majority and minority agreed to this issuance.

The banks subpoenaed are Western State Bank, Hammi Bank, General Bank, First Virginia Bank, First Union Bank of Virginia, Riggs National Bank, Bank-Fund Staff Federal Credit Union, Boatmen's National Bank of Arkansas, California Federal Bank, Chevy Chase Bank, First Commercial Bank, Sumitomo Bank of California, Citibank, and Lippo Bank.
