Tipper Gore To Lead U.S. Olympic Delegation, Write Column
WASHINGTON (AllPolitics, Feb. 10) -- Tipper Gore will lead a U.S. delegation to the winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan, and plans to write a daily column for USA Today during the trip.
The vice president's wife said the column, called "A Note from Nagano," also
will be on the White House Web site. In addition she plans to take digital photos to illustrate her experience in Nagano.
Mrs. Gore and her delegation will be in Nagano Feb. 18-22. Those are also the dates Mrs. Gore will file her Olympics columns.
Some former Olympic athletes are among those going to Nagano with Mrs. Gore. Gymnast Mary Lou Retton is a gold medalist from the 1984 summer games and Dr. Tenley Albright Blakely won a gold medal in figure skating in 1956.
The 2002 winter games will be in Salt Lake City. A member of the Salt Lake organizing committee gave Mrs. Gore a Salt Lake 2002 Team Jacket.
