Presidential Advisors To Be Deposed In Filegate Flap
WASHINGTON (AllPolitics, March 3) -- The conservative group Judicial Watch has been given permission to depose presidential adviser Paul Begala, former advisers George Stephanopoulos and James Carville and private investigator Terry Lenzner in its class action suit on the FBI "Filegate" controversy.
The organization says in a press release it wants to depose Begala because
"he likely has information about the Filegate scandal, having worked with
[Craig] Livingstone and [Anthony] Marceca on the 1992 campaign and in the White House."
Livingstone was personnel security chief at the White House and
Marceca was detailed to the White House to do background investigations.
The Filegate matter concerned FBI files of former White House employees,
many of them Republican, which Livingstone had pulled from archives.
Begala is due to be deposed at 10 a.m. ET Tuesday at Judicial Watch's office.
Lenzner will be called Friday, Stephanopoulos Monday and Carville next Tuesday.
