Former Willey Co-Worker Testifies Before Grand Jury

WASHINGTON (AllPolitics, April 7) -- The Monica Lewinsky grand jury returned to the subject of Kathleen Willey Tuesday with the appearance of Harolyn Cardozo, a former Willey co-worker. Cardozo is the daughter of Democratic fund-raiser Nathan Landow.

Willey, a White House volunteer, has said President Bill Clinton made an unwelcome advance toward her in November 1993. Clinton denies the charges. Willey allegedly phoned Cardozo the evening of the incident.

Afterward, Cardozo said she answered all the questions of the panel "willing ... truthfully and forthrightly."

Prosecutors have been interested in any conversations between Landow and Willey. It is assumed prosecutors also wanted to know about any communication between Cardozo and Willey regarding the incident.

The grand jury also focused on testimony from a presidential assistant who keeps historical records of Clinton's activities.

Janis Kearney, who works under Nancy Hernreich of Oval Office operations, keeps official records of who comes and goes from the Oval Office. She would not comment on her testimony when leaving the courthouse Tuesday.

Kearney is a former Arkansas journalist and is married to White House Personnel Chief Bob Nash.

The grand jury is looking into allegations Clinton had an affair with Lewinsky, a former White House intern, and attempted to cover it up. Clinton has denied the allegations.
