White House Staffer Arrested
WASHINGTON (AllPolitics, April 10) -- Metropolitan police arrested a White House staffer outside the northwest gate of the White House grounds Friday afternoon.
Police arrested David Sandalow, 41, of Washington, who is an employee of the Counsel of Environmental Quality at the White House, for disobeying a lawful police order and crossing a police line.
The police had closed the sidewalk of the 1600 block of Pennsylvania
Avenue because the motorcade of Philippines President Fidel Ramos was passing.
Sandalow allegedly showed his White House identification and insisted on crossing. One witness to the incident said the police officer was highly confrontational and accused Sandalow of cursing him. Sandalow was later released and paid $150 in fines.
