Democrats settle on Los Angeles as 2000 convention site

WASHINGTON (AllPolitics, March 11)-- The location of Los Angeles as the official site of the Democratic National Convention in 2000 will be announced Monday, CNN has learned.
Two Democratic sources told CNN the announcement will be made in Los Angeles at the under-construction Staples Convention Center at 10:30 a.m. PT. California Gov. Gray Davis (D) and Democratic National Committee General Chairman Roy Romer are expected to attend.
The Republican National Committee has already announced Philadelphia as the site of the GOP's national convention in 2000.
