WASHINGTON (May 3) -- Most Americans think the federal government should do more to regulate violence on TV, in movies, in music, on the Internet and in video games, although the greatest support comes for increased government regulation of the Internet.

According to the latest CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll, 65 percent say the federal government should do more to regulate violence on the Internet; 12 percent say the government should do less to regulate violence on the Internet and 17 percent say that the government is doing the right amount to regulate violence on the Internet.

By contrast, 48 percent say that violence in popular music should be more heavily regulated. Less than a third -- 31 percent -- say that violence in movies and TV have a great deal of blame for teenage crimes while 34 percent say they have some blame.

The survey of 1,014 adult Americans was conducted April 30-May 2 and questions have a margin of sampling error of +/- three percentage points.
