Video: Sex and the race for president

November 18, 1999
Web posted at: 1:40 p.m. EST (1840 GMT)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The majority of Americans may not be interested in the presidential race right now, but those who are may have noticed the absence of a particular issue out on the campaign trail, an issue that many expected to play a much larger role in campaign 2000 -- sex.

The Lewinsky scandal was supposed to turn sex into a big campaign issue this year. Candidates would trade allegations about marital infidelity. The press would look into everybody's sex life. But it hasn't turned out that way. CNN Political Analyst Bill Schneider explains what happened.
