Ellis is one of the most widely read scholars of the Revolutionary period, known for bringing the tales of the founding fathers to life. In American Creation, Ellis tells a terrific tale of the tumultuous years of America's founding - from the shots fired in Lexington and Concord in 1775 to Thomas Jefferson's Louisiana purchase in 1803. It is a great read for this anniversary of America's Declaration of Independence. OUR GUESTS RECOMMEND... Tony Blair Muhammad: His Life Based on the Earliest Sources by Martin Lings. A friend of mine once said that you cannot understand the Qur'an unless you have read this book." Paul Krugman The First Tycoon: The Epic Life of Cornelius Vanderbilt by T.J. Stiles. Stiles offers a biography of the titan, Cornelius Vanderbilt, who rose from builder of the nation's largest fleet of steamships to lord of a railroad empire. John B.
