Patty Davis is a general assignment correspondent in CNN's Washington, D.C., bureau. Named to this position in January 2001, she was previously a correspondent based in the network's Chicago bureau. Davis is also a rotating panelist on CNN's On the Story, the network's weekly current events program hosted by CNN's female anchors and correspondents.

Davis has covered numerous stories for the network since she began her on-air reporting for CNN in 1997. She has reported from the presidential campaign trail and from North Carolina during and after Hurricane Floyd in 1999.

She also reported from the Pentagon during the 1999 Kosovo crisis and, additionally, when the government experienced trouble communicating with U.S. spy satellites. Davis also covered the homerun race between Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire, several Midwest tornadoes and the Amtrak train crash in Illinois. Davis was a member of the CNN Financial News team that won an Overseas Press Club Award in 1996 for CNN's Moneyline News Hour coverage of the Cuban economic crisis.

Davis began her career with CNN in 1984, working as an assignment editor in the New York Bureau. She was a producer and later a senior producer in Washington, D.C., for CNN Financial News. Before joining CNN, Davis served as a reporter for WMIR radio in Lake Geneva, Wis., and as a producer/writer for National Public Radio.

Davis earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
