Kate Giles

Kate Giles presents CNN International’s ‘World Sport’ programme from London.

Since joining CNN in July 2009, she has interviewed some of the industry’s biggest names including Clarence Seedorf, Shane Warne, Sir Jackie Stewart and Lawrence Dallaglio.

Giles moved to Spain aged 18 to learn the language, and stayed on to do a degree in Translation and Interpreting at Malaga University. Kate is fluent in Spanish, French and German.

During the third year of her degree, Kate spent time in Paris, France and Munich, Germany, working in a variety of media-based jobs. Following this work stint, she returned to the UK to complete her last year of studies.

After graduating, she took up a year-long placement at DW-TV in Berlin, a 24-hour news network available in Spanish, English, German and Arabic. Kate spent most of her time in the newsroom and on the sports desk learning the trade, until she was offered a position as sports anchor on the news programme, "Journal".
