Nicole Lapin

Nicole Lapin is a news anchor for CNN.com Live, the network's live, multi-stream video service. Lapin guides users through news reports, anchors "Now in the News," a fast-paced hourly Web- and wireless-exclusive news update, and provides briefings on CNN/U.S. and HLN about the most popular stories on CNN.com. She joined CNN in May 2006 and is based in the network's world headquarters in Atlanta.

While at CNN.com, Lapin has covered the Israel-Hezbollah conflict, the death of former U.S. President Gerald Ford and the Virginia Tech shooting.

Previously, Lapin worked with the First Business Network, where she reported daily from the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. For the network, she traveled overseas to cover the surging value of the Euro. Her technology beat gave her a coveted press seat aboard the inaugural trans-Atlantic Wi-Fi flight. Before that, she worked as a general assignment reporter for three CBS affiliates, KPSP-TV in Palm Springs, Calif., KELO-TV in Sioux Falls, S.D. and WKYT-TV in Lexington, Ky.

Lapin is currently serving as an ambassador for the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation, where she hosts a campaign called "Being Smart is Cool." Lapin also hosts a weekly interview series on CNN.com called "Young People Who Rock," which focuses on people under 30 who are doing remarkable things. Her journalism awards include citations from the Chicago Emmy Committee, the Hearst Journalism Foundation, the Society of Professional Journalists, Radio-Television News Directors Association and the Association of Women Journalists.

Lapin studied European Union politics at L'Institut d'Études Politique de Paris. She graduated summa cum laude and as valedictorian of her class from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, also earning honors for a second major in political science.
