Veronica Pedrosa

Based at CNN’s regional headquarters in Hong Kong, Veronica Pedrosa co-anchors the network’s evening program WORLD NEWS ASIA with Andrew Stevens throughout the week. The two live one-hour editions of WORLD NEWS ASIA reports and updates the day’s leading news and business stories from across the region and around the world.

Pedrosa, who began her career in journalism in her hometown of Manila as television reporter for the national network ABS-CBN, re-joined CNN International in Asia in early 2000. She had previously worked for BBC World Television and BBC World Service Radio in London. Prior to that, she was a news anchor for CNN International at the global news network’s headquarters in Atlanta.

During her fourteen years as a journalist and news anchor, Pedrosa has covered all the major global and regional news stories and conducted in-depth interviews to get to the bottom of events with important newsmakers, including Nobel Peace Prize Winner Aung San Suu Kyi, East Timor Foreign Minister Jose Ramos Horta, Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Former Philippine President Corazon Aquino, New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark and Australian Prime Minister John Howard. In May 2002, she co-hosted a two-hour live special program on East Timor’s independence celebrations from Dili, where she interviewed President Xanana Gusmao and reported on the birth of that new nation. She also hosted two live special series examining the aftermath of the 2002 Bali bombings and the killer disease, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). In September 2004, Pedrosa hosted special editions of WORLD NEWS ASIA, live from New Delhi, for a week-long programming entitled, EYE ON INDIA.

Pedrosa was named ‘Best News Anchor’ at the 2004 Asian Television Awards. A graduate of Cambridge University, she is married to award-winning CNN cameraman Mark Phillips and has two children.
