Angelique van der Byl is the host of 'The Music Room', CNN International's diverse music program, which features today's hottest music groups from around the globe. The program also profiles up-and-coming artists on tour and in the studio and offers the latest album chart and music news, industry developments and concert and festival updates.

For the show, Van der Byl has interviewed many notable artists such as Nickelback, Dave Matthews, 50 Cent, Linkin Park, Matchbox Twenty and Evanescence. She has also conducted interviews with legendary producers Quincy Jones and Clive Davis. Last year, she co-hosted the network’s coverage of '46664', a live tribute concert for AIDS awareness in Cape Town, South Africa, which featured performances from Beyonce, Peter Gabriel and Ms. Dynamite. Recently, she covered the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles for 'The Music Room'.

Prior to joining CNN in April 2003, van der Byl, a South African native, worked for ten years as a full-time model around the world. Alongside her print and runway modeling work, she has appeared in over 30 commercials for such prominent international companies as Pepsi Co., Toyota and Heineken. In 1991, van der Byl won the Sarie Covergirl competition, a nationally televised event in South Africa.

She holds a Bachelor of Social Science Degree in Sociology from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Van der Byl speaks English, Afrikaans, Portuguese and German.
