WASHINGTON (CNN) -- New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson weighed in on the spat between two of his fellow Democratic presidential candidates Wednesday, saying he thinks Sen. Barack Obama should denounce Hollywood mogul David Geffen's disparaging comments about Sen. Hillary Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton.

The New Mexico governor was specifically asked to comment on the subject at the forum and responded with an affirmative "Yes."

"I think if we're going to win we have to be positive," Richardson said during a Democratic forum in Carson City, Nevada. Richardson also emphasized that Democrats need to focus on promoting their own agenda.

"If there is anything about Democrats in the last few years, being a governor I felt this, we just cannot criticize the president. There's plenty to criticize. But we should advance our own policies, our own solutions. What's our plan on Iraq, what's our plan on education? I think these name-callings are not good," he added.

Geffen, a former ally of the Clintons who is now supporting Obama's presidential bid, co-hosted a California fundraiser Tuesday night for him.
