Actress Meryl Streep will soon showcase her talent on the small screen in a made-for-TV movie. The two-time Oscar winner will appear in "First Do No Harm" for ABC, which will air next season. Streep will star as the mother of a boy with severe epilepsy who is fighting the medical establishment to get her son a nontraditional treatment.

Actor Kyle McLachlan will join the cast of "One Night Stand." The Hollywood Reporter says the actor will co-star with Wesley Snipes and Nastassja Kinski in the erotic drama.

Jennifer Tilly is heading for Canada to co-star in the action comedy "The Wrong Guy." The Hollywood Reporter says the film will begin shooting later this month in Toronto.

Mick Jagger

Classic Charles Dickens meets classic rock and roll. Mick Jagger is reportedly in talks with Disney Television about the possibility of his playing Fagin in a TV version of "Oliver Twist." Hollywood Reporter's "E-Mail" column says the singer also plans a number of big-screen film projects.

Molly Ringwald leaves her "girl next door" image behind in her latest film. Ringwald, Jeanne Tripplehorn and Carol Kane will star in "Office Killer," about a corporate employee who avoids being laid off by getting rid of her competition.

Alan Alda may return to television. Daily Variety reports the actor is the top choice to take over the lead in ABC's "Murder One" next season.

Actress Gene Headly is working with actor Peter Falk on a project for Showtime. The two have been cast in "Pronto," based on an Elmore Leonard novel. Headly starred in "Mr. Holland's Opus."

Dr. Frog, I presume? Southampton College, part of Long Island University, bestowed an honorary doctorate of amphibious letters on Kermit the Frog at commencement ceremonies last weekend. Kermit was honored for his work on environmental issues.

Heather Locklear

Time may be running out for the cast of "Melrose Place." Heather Locklear tells TV Guide she's contractually obligated to do one more season of the nighttime soap. Then, she says, "that's it." Locklear says most of the cast's contracts end next year, and it will be costly to bring everyone back.
