Tony-nominated actors span decades, genre in past careers

NEW YORK (CNN) -- It's "The Life" for actors in the musical of that name, where you didn't have to be a Broadway veteran to be nominated for a Tony Award. One of the four actors nominated from that show is a Shakespearean actor, and another, a past winner of "Star Search."

But for others, experience doubtless counts. Many are repeat Tony nominees, and a few have won multiple Tony Awards. Wondering who to root for? We've learned something about each of these actors, and the performances for which they were nominated, to help you decide.
