Casper Van Dien, currently fighting big bugs in "Starship Troopers," will be turning to comedy. Daily Variety reports the actor has signed on to star in "Dream True," a romantic comedy set to begin shooting in Prague early in 1998.

DVD is proving to be a big seller. The Consumer Electronics Manufacturing Association reports over 200,000 DVD players have moved in retail in the six months they've been available. This is faster than the introduction of the compact disc or the video cassette recorder. The electronics industry predicts the first million will be reached by the end of 1998.

Judy Collins is ready to help kick off the Christmas season. The singer will headline a special on the Arts and Entertainment network to be called, "A Judy Collins Christmas at the Biltmore Estate." The show was taped last year before an invitation-only audience. It airs December 8.

Kevin Costner has picked a project for 1998. Daily Variety reports the actor/producer/director is negotiating to star in "Message in a Bottle," a romantic comedy based on a novel about the search for true love. Costner is looking to shoot the film next spring and release it next Christmas.

If you've missed the Rolling Stones, your cable system or satellite dish could be your bridge to Babylon. The Stones concert in St. Louis on December 12 will be cablecast as a Pay Per View event live from the TWA Dome. DirectTV subscribers will get a special deal on the show. They'll get it for free.
