Sinatra leaves hospital

LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- Entertainer Frank Sinatra returned home Thursday after a brief hospital stay. Hospital officials and Sinatra's spokeswoman said he had undergone routine tests, but there was an uncomfirmed report that the singer was suffering from bladder cancer.

Sinatra, 82, was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Tuesday, nearly 13 months after he suffered a heart attack. Sinatra reportedly was taken to the hospital in an ambulance on a nonemergency call.

Mitchell Fink, a contributing editor for People Magazine, reported Wednesday on CNN's "Showbiz Today" that Sinatra has bladder cancer. Sinatra spokeswoman Susan Reynolds would neither confirm nor deny the report.

"Out of respect for his personal request for privacy, there's no comment," she said. "He hopes and feels confident that everyone will understand."

The Associated Press reported that Reynolds and hospital officials have said that Sinatra's condition is not serious.

A year ago, Sinatra visited the hospital three times in two months. He has not made a public appearance since he suffered a heart attack in January 1997.

Just a few weeks ago, the legendary singer spent the night in Cedars-Sinai for a checkup. His daughter Nancy, who accepted the American Music Award of Merit for him at the American Music Awards a few nights later, joked that her father's spirits were great and so was his appetite.
