HOLLYWOOD, California (CNN) -- The final episode of "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air" will be taped Thursday in Hollywood. The episode will air during May sweeps. According to USA Today, the series finale is being taped early to free up Will Smith for a movie this spring in Europe.

Kirstie Alley is turning producer. The actress is executive producer on "An Urban Legend", a TV movie for ABC, for broadcast next season. Alley also will star in the film, playing a woman who learns to live again after an accident leaves her a paraplegic.

Sophomore time is arriving for Hootie and the Blowfish. According to Billboard magazine, the band's new album "Fairweather Johnson" is due in record shops April 23. The band's second album is coming out as the band's first album, "Cracked Rear View," is still No. 11 on the magazine's album charts.


It's a bird, it's a plane...

The man from Krypton is staying in his prime time slot. ABC has announced they're ordering another 22 episodes of "Lois and Clark: The new adventures of Superman" for next year. The show is considered the No. 1 prime time drama on any network -- among kids. It'll be the show's fourth season.

Lisa Marie Presley is going to work. Presley tells Vogue magazine she's built a studio in her home and has been writing songs. Her brown hair is now black, and worn short. Now that Presley is divorcing Michael Jackson, she's looking to build a career in music -- under her maiden name.

The deadline has passed. Votes for the 68th annual Academy Awards were due to the Price Waterhouse accounting firm by the close of business Tuesday afternoon. The awards ceremony is March 25.

Director Michael Radford has a new project. The English filmmaker behind the Italian hit "Il Postino" is now set to direct "B. Monkey" for Miramax films.


Robin is heading for the Oscars. Actor Chris O'Donnell will make his first appearance at the 68th annual Academy Awards - - as a presenter.

Andy Garcia looks likely to star in "Desperate Measures" with Michael Keaton. Daily Variety reports that Garcia will play a cop searching for a criminal who is the key to saving his son from dying of leukemia. Keaton will play the criminal. Shooting is to begin in late spring.
