'Talk On Corners' reveals Irish band The CorrsWeb posted on: Tuesday, July 28, 1998 5:38:05 PM EDT From Correspondent Lauren Sydney NEW YORK (CNN) -- There's a buzz in the music industry over "Talk On Corners," the latest release from Irish sibling quartet The Corrs. It's the second release from the band, a follow-up to their successful debut, "Forgiven, Not Forgotten," on which they established themselves as the latest in a parade of talented musical acts from Ireland, including bands like The Cranberries and U2. 'Talk On Corners'"Talk On Corners" features more of the Irish pop sound The Corrs fans have grown accustomed to, and then some.
"I suppose it got more of an edgy feel, a little bit more guitar-orientated and also an Irish sound, which is in 'Forgiven, Not Forgotten,'" says Andrea Corr, who, along with Caroline, Sharon, and Jim, makes up The Corrs. The album also features their version of Fleetwood Mac's 1970s classic, "Dreams." The big break
Judging by the number of Web sites dedicated to the band, they're developing quite a following. The Corrs got their break after auditioning for a role in the movie "The Commitments." While they didn't make the final cut, they got to be extras in the film, and it led to a record deal with Atlantic. Andrea Corr has since appeared in a small role in "Evita." "My scene involved me lying in a bed and Madonna kicking me out of this bed, and I sang a few short, small lines and left," she says. 'We fight now and then'Now that the band is gaining popularity (they were recently a part of the Fleadh Festival), The Corrs are putting up with those unavoidable sibling squabbles. "I think it's a big challenge not to murder each other," Sharon Corr jokes. "I mean, we're family so we fight now and then, but we're getting better at it. I mean, the music's really important to us, and we love doing that, so in order to preserve that, we get on." And The Corrs are getting on just fine.
