LONDON (CNN) -- He's 24, he's handsome, and he's taking the central European pop music scene by storm. Sasha, a frequent visitor to the German, Austrian and Swiss charts over the last six months, is proof that teen idols are not simply an Anglo/American phenomenon.
In less than a year, he's become a teen-age sensation in Germany with his debut album, "Dedicated To ... ," and is preparing to go on tour with his own full-length set. Hailed as a young-girl hero at home, he's also determined to crack the hard nut of the English-language markets.
"Some people think that to be a teeny idol is something bad," he says. "I don't think so, because, you know, Elvis was a teeny idol, and George Michael was a teeny idol too, and he made it through the years. I want to just keep the younger fans with me over the years -- and I hope it will work."

Sasha's current single, "If You Believe," is doing well across Europe, and his album went into the top 20 after one week in Germany. Interestingly, the album is in English.
"I know only some artists who can make really good ballads in the German language," he says. "It's very difficult to express in German words something like 'soul' or 'heart,' because it sounds hard. ... To write songs in German that sound really good, I think it has to be one unit, the music and the sound of the words to the lyrics."
Will he still be a pop star 20 years from now? While his young teen-age fans probably hope so, the young musician is unsure. "I don't really know," he says, "but what I know is that I will be doing music in 20 years."
