British rock star Gary Glitter committed for trialLONDON (CNN) -- British 1970s "glamrock" star Gary Glitter was on Thursday committed for trial to face child sex and pornography charges. No trial date has been set The flamboyant singer was arrested last year as he returned from a holiday in Cuba after police allegedly found pornographic pictures in his possession. Glitter was charged with possessing indecent photographs of children. He is also charged with assaulting girls under the age of 16 and four other serious sexual offenses. Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, has sold some 18 million records with hits like "I'm the Leader of the Gang," "I Love You Love Me Love" and "Rock 'n' Roll." Garth Brooks reaches million milestoneLOS ANGELES (CNN) -- Singer Garth Brooks is a record-maker and record-breaker. According to Brooks' record company, Capitol Nashville, his new "Double Live" CD sold 1.09 million copies in the week ending Sunday. That easily surpassed the first-week sales record Pearl Jam set when it sold 950,000 copies of "Vs." in 1993. According to the Recording Industry Association of America, Brooks is the biggest selling artist in U.S. music history with career sales of 83 million units.
Singer Celine eyes rest, motherhoodARLINGTON, Virginia (CNN) -- Singer Celine Dion says she plans to take a six-month break when she wraps up her current tour late next year. Dion told USA Today she wants to get a taste of "some normal stuff." "I can't wait to cook and iron some clothes, clean the home.... I want to go buy some fresh tomatoes, do my groceries," the 30-year-old singer said. A more long-term project may be in the works, too. Dion told the newspaper she and her husband-manager Rene Angelli, 56, have been trying to conceive a child. Reuters contributed to this report.
