DiCaprio hit with $45 million suitNEW YORK (CNN) -- A lawsuit for $45 million was filed Tuesday, alleging "Titanic" star Leonardo DiCaprio incited a friend to hit a man who asked him to leave his girlfriend alone. Roger Wilson, 41, says in his lawsuit that he was attacked outside New York's Asia de Cuba restaurant on March 4, 1998, following a confrontation with DiCaprio and his friend Jay Ferguson. According to court papers, Wilson approached the drunken pair about alleged phone calls to his girlfriend Elizabeth Berkley, who starred in "Showgirls." Wilson, who appeared in two "Porky's" movies, says Ferguson admitted to calling Berkley. According to Wilson's account, Ferguson invited Wilson outside after which DiCaprio "turned to his posse" and asked them to beat up Wilson. Paul Licalsi, Wilson's attorney, says his client was only hit once before his attacker was removed. DiCaprio, who is in Thailand filming "The Beach," denied the allegations through legal counsel. Ferguson could not be found for comment.

Ivy League prof sues Smashing Pumpkins for aching earsNEW HAVEN, Connecticut (CNN) -- A Princeton University music historian has filed a lawsuit saying a 1997 Smashing Pumpkins concert left him with hearing loss in one ear and ringing in both ears, the New Haven Register reported Wednesday. Peter Jeffery attended his first ever live rock concert on January 25, 1997 at the New Haven Coliseum. The Ivy League professor attended with his son and wore earplugs to protect his ears from the noise. But not even earplugs could protect his ears, according to the lawsuit he has filed against the band, the city and coliseum. Jeffery says the music was over a safe decibel level and the defendants "knew or should have known." He is seeking $15,000 in damages. Other defendants named include Smashing Pumpkins members Billy Corgan, James Iha and D'Arcy Wretzky-Brown, and Virgin Records. Blanchett chats with real queenLONDON (CNN) -- Academy Award nominee and star of "Elizabeth" Cate Blanchett had a chance to chat with real royalty Thursday when Queen Elizabeth II visited a theater where Blanchett will be performing starting next month. The pair could not discuss the actress's role as Queen Elizabeth I: "I don't think she has seen it," Blanchett said. The queen visited London's major theatres on a tour designed to highlight the success of the theatrical industry. She and her husband, Prince Philip, also received complimentary tickets to Thursday night's performance of the revival of "Oklahoma!," a show she last saw it in 1947 and recalled as "great fun."
