B-1 Bomber Lancer
DESCRIPTION: The B-1 first saw combat in Operation Desert Fox in the December 1998. It's a long-range bomber, smaller and faster than a B-2, but with no stealth characteristics.
The B-1 has movable wings, which give it the ability to take off from shorter runways. Two B-1s are in the Gulf at the moment. They carry a crew of four.
ANYTHING NEW? The B-1 was not available during the Persian Gulf War because it was then equipped to drop only nuclear bombs. It now carries conventional smart bombs.
