The first ethnically mixed police units have been deployed into rebel strongholds in Macedonia after a Western-brokered peace deal ended months of fighting between government troops and ethnic Albanian rebels. Meanwhile, diplomats continue to nudge the sides closer towards fully implementing the deal. At issue are amnesty for rebels who disarmed voluntarily and approval of constitutional changes designed to give ethnic Albanians more rights and political influence.
