For three days, the expressive and sometimes mesmerizing sounds of dozens of jazz musicians will again resound in Monterey, California, as thousands of musicians and fans gather in late September to celebrate 45 years of the Monterey Jazz Festival.
Etta James
Blues singer Etta James has put her unique style on songs -- like "At Last," "Trust in Me," and "Tell Mama" -- in a career that spans 50 years. Set to perform at the 2002 Monterey Jazz Festival, James recently sat down for an interview with CNN and talked candidly about the ups and downs of a colorful life that included a long addiction to heroin. Her latest recording, "Burnin' Down the House," was released earlier this year.
