Malvo sentenced to life, Muhammad to death
John Allen Muhammad was sentenced to death for his role in one in a series of deadly sniper shootings that terrorized the Washington, D.C.-area in October 2002. His teenage cohort, Lee Boyd Malvo, was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Muhammad was found guilty of murdering civil engineer Dean Harold Meyers, while Malvo was convicted of murdering FBI analyst Linda Franklin. Both men are linked to sniper slayings that killed 10 people and wounded three in Virginia and Maryland, and similar shootings in several other states.
