Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe exits a polling station after casting his ballot
Commonwealth suspension

The Commonwealth has suspended Zimbabwe for 12 months after the group's observers accused President Robert Mugabe of using state powers and institutions to steal victory and extend his 22-year rule. Mugabe was declared the winner over opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai in the March election, which some African nations welcomed as fair but other nations condemned as being "unfair and not free."
