Supersonic passenger planes being retired

Concorde, the design icon and jet-setters' dream, is making its supersonic swan song after 27 years' service.

British Airways and Air France took the decision to retire their fleet of supersonic jets as costs mounted and passenger numbers declined.

Confidence in Concorde, which can cross the Atlantic in three hours, never fully recovered after a crash in Paris in 2000 that killed 113 people.
