The Ronald Reagan Legacy Project was formed in 1997 as a project of Americans for Tax Reform, a national taxpayer advocacy organization headed by longtime conservative activist Grover Norquist. The project's goal is to name one notable public landmark after Reagan in all 50 states and 3,000 counties, and in each formerly communist country. The project's notable achievement was the renaming of Washington's National Airport to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. By the project's count, 38 states still lack a Ronald Reagan school, boulevard, freeway, post office or other tribute. Norquist also is lobbying for Reagan to replace Alexander Hamilton on the $10 bill, and he is trying to get former president added to Mount Rushmore.

The Reagan Ranch external link

The Young America's Foundation, a Virginia-based conservative group that bought Reagan's ranch in 1998, operates this site. The foundation plans to use the ranch, named Rancho del Cielo -- Spanish for ranch in the sky -- by the Reagans, for leadership seminars to educate college students in the conservative philosophies that Reagan promoted. The 688-acre property in the Santa Ynez Mountains is 30 miles north of Santa Barbara, California, and was known as Reagan's western White House. Reagan spent more than 300 days of his presidency at the ranch, and he paid his last visit in 1995 before his Alzheimer's illness forced him to stop going there.
