Michael Reynolds's Earthship
<b><a href="/2007/BUSINESS/08/29/skewed.earthships/index.html">Earthships</a></b><br> Half buried in the dry, red earth of New Mexico, are a series buildings, unconventional in appearance and radical in design. They're Earthships, carbon-neutral, self-sufficient homes, and the brainchild of visionary "biotect" Michael Reynolds. <br><br> Using recycled materials, such as tires and aluminium cans, but featuring every modern convenience, there are now Earthships on ever continent on the planet, and Reynolds believes one day whole towns and cities will be built on their principles of conservation and sustainability.
CNN: What do you think makes a good architect, vision or risk?

MR: A good architect, would not be an architect, a good architect would be a "biotect." I don't think architecture has got the ability to face the future because of its own narcissism. To take any sharp turn away from the norm in the future is definitely going to take vision and risk. And they are not possible in today's architecture.
