ATLANTA (CNN) -- Cyberspace is a good place to go if you need
help finding your way around the real world. There are a
number of Internet sites offering a wide variety of digital
maps.
Maps of the world ...
The
Perry-Castaneda Map Collection at the University
of Texas in Austin has a collection of more than 200,000
maps,
many of which were created by government agencies like the
CIA.
The Current Interest section helps you keep up with the
geography of areas in the news, and there are collections of
topical maps that cover the demographics of different parts
of the world.
Or just where you want to go ...
For geography that goes down to the street level,
MapQuest is an excellent choice.
Geosystems has put together a comprehensive site of city maps
in the United States.
Just type in an address and MapQuest will jump to a detailed
map of the exact location you want. You can locate area
businesses and services and local points of interest.
MapQuest will even help you plan your next road trip. Just
enter your destination and TripQuest will give you detailed
directions for the best way to get from point A to point B.
And the weather once you get there
If you want to find all the highs and lows in the United
States, go to the Weather Channel's
site on the World Wide Web.
It has national and regional weather maps for current and
projected conditions, a good collection of satellite images
and several specialty maps and travelers reports.
