Among the thousands of amateur stargazers eyeing Comet Hale-Bopp's dramatic fly-by of Earth, few can match the intensity, some might say the obsessiveness, of Tim Puckett. By day Puckett is the owner of a small earth-moving business; by night, he is a modern-day Galileo.
Nestled in the mountains outside Atlanta, Georgia, Puckett has snapped more than a thousand photos of Hale-Bopp while assembling what you might call a five-star backyard observatory. CNN Interactive asked Puckett to create a slide show of his favorite Hale-Bopp photos, snapped over the past year.
