THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.
JIM MORET, CNN ANCHOR: For those women who love the look of pantyhose but prefer to wear sandals, there's a new product that allows to you cover up and be bare at the same time.
Our Jeanne Moos makes the most of toeless hosiery.
JEANNE MOOS, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): In the pantyhose business, you always have to be on your toes.
(on camera): they're toeless pantyhose.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Those are nice.
MOOS (voice-over): But what do guys owe know about pantyhose, especially:
(on camera): hose with no toes.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Hose with no toes.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Is that just to air out your toes?
MOOS (voice-over): Not exactly. The idea is to avoid the cardinal sin of hosiery: wearing pantyhose with sandals is sure to make you not just the laughing stock, but the laughing stocking. The solution:
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: A toe thong.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Your big toe would go through there.
MOOS (on camera): Susan is modeling them.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Wow, that's great.
MOOS (voice-over): The makers of lycra kicked off their toeless pantyhose campaign at a New York City salon, offering pedicures and toe photography. Linda Kearns says she discovered the hose when she saw them on a colleague in Brazil.
LINDA KEARNS, BRAND MANAGER, DUPONT LYCRA: I kind of looked at her and said, are you wearing pantyhose or not, because her toes were showing, and she said, oh yes, this is a new type of pantyhose.
MOOS: They're not so new to the folks at Fogal, a ritzy hosiery shop on Madison Avenue. Toeless hose have been selling here for a year.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Ours are $32 a pair.
MOOS: At $32 a pair, who's getting hose? Though the expensive ones easily won the blind touch test.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Number two.
MOOS (on camera): It's better?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes.
MOOS (voice-over): The $6 dollar version is sold via the Internet at Lycra.com.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: It's kind of dumb. It's two-toned.
MOOS: No wonder her tootsies are a shade lighter than her legs.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: They're open.
MOOS (on camera): So what do you think?
(voice-over): But think of the advantages when it comes to runs.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: You can't make a hole in the toe if there is no toe.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: It scrunches your toes in.
MOOS (on camera): Pantyhose.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: pulls them all together and you the get corns. It's awesome.
MOOS (voice-over): As for comfort.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: It feels like a glove almost.
MOOS: It may take some practice for women to get a toehold on the toe thong.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I think it's great thing.
MOOS (on camera): Wait, we've to you can tuck you in, Susan.
(voice-over): The question is, will women be panting for these panty hose?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: So I should go home and cut all the toes off my pantyhose?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Thumbs up.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Thumbs up. It's definitely a thumbs up for the pantyhose.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Vote me in.
MOOS: If toeless pantyhose catch on, your pedicure will be seen and your toes will see an unobstructed view.
